Pilates is an innovative system of low-impact aerobic exercise that can be performed either on a floor mat or on licensed Reformer equipment at our Nanaimo Pilates studio.

Pilates is widely considered to be one of the best abdominal and core workouts and it can greatly improve your flexibility and balance. It’s renowned for dramatically transforming how your body looks, feels and performs; regular Pilates practice can improve flexibility and agility, alleviate pain, increase mental focus and promote economy of motion.

Much like yoga or ballet, Pilates helps foster body awareness, improve your posture and develop graceful movements. It’s commonly associated with promoting weight loss, increased flexibility, sharpened mental focus and toning a leaner figure.

Pilates is of particular benefit to seniors and anyone with injuries or mobility issues.

Before Dori was a Blissology and Hatha Yoga Instructor, she was a Surf Coach in Australia, Costa Rica and in Tofino running her surf & yoga retreats with Rhythm in Swells. After this she embarked on becoming a Hawaiian Lomi Massage Practitioner. Dori was inspired to learn more about rehabilitation and how to better support our body mechanics and joints. The focus of her yoga practice is to support our joints with gravity, by activating our muscular engagement, incorporating balance and pelvic stability. This practice inspired her to increase our neuromuscular patterning for a better relationship with our joints and our mind-body connection. She helps encourage clients to gain the power to heal their injuries and increase range of motion safely.

Growing up with leisure and fitness in her work-oriented jobs Dori has continued to learn more about Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy and Functional Movement Patterning. This led her to embark on the career path of the rehabilitation assistant diploma to help inspire others on their healing journey, how to have a better quality of life and to share the beneficial outcomes that can have a huge positive impact their lives.
